ESE has been manufacturing products for Defense, Aerospace, Test & Telemetry applications for over 40 years! In the mid-70’s ESE introduced two very accurate Master Clocks. These products widened ESE’s market to include 9-1-1 dispatch centers, military installations and other applications that could benefit from this level of reliable accuracy. Later in the 70’s our first IRIG-B Time Code product was introduced. Since then, the IRIG Product Family has grown considerably. The IRIG Family now includes at least 40 standard products as unique as the different government and military branches that rely on them. Through the years ESE has also designed and manufactured products that meet precise aerospace requirements. For example, ESE offers airborne products in ruggedized enclosures that meet the 810F standard. ESE’s IRIG Time Code and Airborne & Ground Mobile products are now used in a variety of applications including government teleconferencing centers, state and local chambers, courtrooms, military test ranges and the space shuttle.

When you talk about products for Defense, Aerospace, Test & Telemetry applications, you have to disucss 'IRIG' Time Code. The Inter-Range Instrumentation Group, or IRIG, codes were originally developed for sending time or other data around missile test ranges, and now finds use in government, military and commercial fields. These digital codes are typically amplitude modulated on an audio sine wave carrier (though not always). The most common version is IRIG-B, which sends Day of Year, Hour, Minute and Second data on a 1000 Hz carrier, with an update rate of one second. Other "IRIG" codes, as well as related codes such as "NASA", "XR3" and "2137" can be supported by ESE products on a custom basis. ESE has several standard IRIG Time Code and Airborne & Ground Mobile products linked below.
